Frequently Asked Questions
Can I brush my teeth after my Fluoride varnish?
We strongly encourage you to wait 4-6 hours before brushing or flossing your teeth after your fluoride treatment. It is also important to avoid sticky/crunchy foods and hot liquids.
How often should I get my teeth professionally cleaned?
It is strongly encouraged to visit your dentist 2 times a year for an exam and cleaning, although some individuals may need their teeth professional cleaned more often depending on their overall oral health and hygiene. A dental hygienist is adept at reaching and cleaning those areas of your tooth that are hard to get to, which a brush cannot always do as thoroughly. It is important to stay on track with your dental appointments to remove plaque and build up, which may lead to cavities, gum disease, or other afflictions. Treating your smile to regular checkups will help avoid more serious conditions.
How often should I floss?
It is imperative to floss at least 1xday. Some patients prefer to floss in the morning or afternoon, while other prefer to floss at night.
I can't afford to go to the dentist because I don't have dental insurance. What do I do?
We understand how you feel. Other patients have had this same concern and what we have found is that your insurance is making sure that you do not neglect your regular dental cleanings and exams. Routine dental examinations, cleanings, and x-rays, as well as proper home care, is your best insurance. In partnering with us for your oral health by coming in routinely you will be able to focus on prevention instead of restoration and, in the case of decay, problems can be caught early while they are still easily and affordably treated instead of waiting until something breaks or hurts. When you wait until there is an emergency, the treatment that is needed is usually more extensive and expensive.
How long will I be numb for after a filling?
Everyone is different but people are typically numb 2-4 hours after a filling.
